So forcing users to view a different page so they can't remove the code is ok then?

would that work?
Maybe, but it would require an unnecessarily complicated script for paid subscribers. >_>

With proboards there is the &NOHEADERS=1 that you can add to the end of the URL

Ill make this quick.

So, so, so, so, so... damnit, ProBoards, they better fix this shit.
Wrighty, can you move the shoutbox to wServices?
Then redirect any wrighty.info URLs that do just so happen to get through to wServices? I can handle the redirects, just wonderin' if wS could be used since the ProBoards staff is full of faggotry.

I don't blame them, they frown upon redirects because of the ads, and since it was happening on tons of forums, since a lot of people used Wrighty's codes, they needed a way of quickly fixing the issue. And to stop people complaining about not being able to access their forums.

It has nothing to do with ads, it has to do with the fact that not only were users forcibly redirected from their forums, it also was insulting them. If he didnt want to host them any more, the codes could have simply been deleted, and the codes would have ceased to work. Alternatively, a simple alert, or div popup could have been used, informing users that their code was outdated, and will no longer work.
Neither was done, Wrighty was just trying to cause drama by redirecting instead of removing, and wanted to give wimg a cheap plug.

As said in response to the previous quote, he didnt simply remove them, they were replaced with redirects.

Ummm, they were not just Wrighty's codes. The removal of wrighty.info also removed one of my codes that I paid Wrighty to host. Tongue

But I PM'd Patrick Clinger, so I'll see what happens. So long as my GamingMedley.com domain is up, there's not really a problem, 'cause I can redirect to wrighty.info from there, but the point was to be able to switch to wrighty.info in the event that GamingMedley.com went down. >_>
You can PM as many people as you want, but it wont get removed. Your host was blocked, take it up with your host, not PB. His codes were in the PB code database, and as such forced redirects such as those look bad on PB.

Not the point at all, users should never have to do this aside from their own mistake. A div or alert would have been more than enough. Wrighty was causing trouble, plain and simple.

sb.wrighty.info (in my control) contained no malicious code, no redirects, no nothing. All the scripts that were on sb.wrighty.info remained exactly the same before and after Wrighty's redirects. The scripts on sb.wrighty.info didn't cease to work until ProBoards blocked the wrighty.info URLs. I don't care whether or not wrighty.info codes are unblocked. I care whether or not sb.wrighty.info is unblocked, because it nor the codes in it caused any harm. It shouldn't be hard to replace wrighty.info if it's not preceeded by sb.

RE: Why the Hell...
If that domain is on his server, it is not in your control, and as such changes can be made at any time.

Can you honestly say you trust him? A multitude of users put their trust in him when utilising his code. What happened to them?
They did not just lose functionality of the code, they also lost access to their forums, and had to jump through hoops just to get back in.

Wrighty could have used any other form of notifications to pass on the message. Instead he chose a way which caused problems for the PB users, caused work for the PB staff, was used as a cheap plug, and insulted users who liked his work.

The situation was rectified by blocking the problem domain.

As evident by other posts here, if you were not yourself affected, you would not disagree with our decision.

RE: Why the Hell...
I don't disagree with blocking his scripts. I disagree with blocking mine. He has no reason to alter my scripts, because I paid for them, whereas the scripts he did remove were freebies that solely leeched his bandwidth.
