wImg Community Project!
Wrighty asked me a while ago to work on his AboutUs page for him. I finally got around to it after forgetting about it fully. ><'. I am an administrator with AboutUs, and as many website pioneers know AboutUs is a key tool to SEO.

However, SEO does improve with human interaction. This includes more then one person editing and adding to the wiki page at AboutUs.

You're an AboutUs admin? =O
Will you work on mine? Big Grin

wtf. I can't edit my site on there. It gives a 404 error. And when I use the e-mail validation code, it says invalid code. Buggy site is buggy. >_>

RE: wImg Community Project!
Sorry. AboutUs went offline. :[. There is maintenance right now. Should be back up soon.

Yeah. I'm an AboutUs admin http://aboutus.org/NickBurrus I'm also a Chi.mp community champion http://getsatisfaction.com/chimp/people as seen there. :].

I really don't know much about your site, I prefer to work on things I know about, or I will do just a minor revamp of basic scrape data.

I don't know how make it recrawl it. All the information on there is from, like, a zillion years ago.

I made it recalled. I deleted you off the wiki. Then readded you, which in turn made bot recrawl.

Baww. I spent like an hour updating the Wiki. lol

Yay, got all the extra info back. The crawl helped with the History, but IDK if it's a good or bad thing that I lost all the keywords/categories.

RE: wImg Community Project!
They have to be approved?

You should make it so that people can verify ownership of a site, therefore automatically approving their changes.
The way Google and MochiAds do it is they say, "Upload this file to your site:"
Then when the user clicks "Verify Site Ownership" or whatever, it looks for that file (via server-side). If it exists, they're verified.
The file could be something like: AboutUs_USERNAME.html, which is a blank file to upload to the root directory.

Y/N?

RE: wImg Community Project!
Well, edits you make show automatically like every wiki does. But, wiki software has a system in place where we can see what edits were made and deem them okay, or deem them as spam and roll them back. AboutUs took the software further to an extent. But, basically it is that way. We pay attention to details, etc, because we don't want false.

So basically any changes you make anyone can see them in live time. But, let's say Joe comes along and removes your new information, and we think your information was legitimate; we will restore your information, whereas you don't have to.

That idea would require some core features being recoded, but I'll talk to dev.
