30% Shorter URLs

Update 15:48: This has been released to all member accounts. All guests will be using the .co.uk domain. Where as members can change their domain in their settings. Guests and Members will be using 3 character file names as of now also.

Thankfully this is a more upbeat news announcement that announces new things for wImg. Things that will put us at the forefront of Image Hosting.

Recently we have purchased a new domain that is 30% shorter than the current one. Furthermore, we have decreased the file name length by 3 characters that's 50% shorter file names.

In total, if you use both, it'll give us roughly 30% shorter URLs eg:

Old URL: http://wimg.co.uk/0Zvm9x.png
New URL: http://wimg.mp/QGn.png


Unfortunately we will not be able to release the .mp domain as the publically used domain, that will continue to be the .co.uk domain.
Sometime within the next 24 hours this new feature will be released. A new option will be added to the Modify Profile page allowing you to choose from the domains that we currently have available. On top of that, we're hoping to be adding a much shorter domain sometime in the coming months.
