my honest opinion, wImg isn't the best, not even close compared to Photobucket. The album setup as well as it having a file management systen makes it much better and in any truth, even though wrighty is planning to add all that he also plans to release it as a paid feature, which will drive away a good amount of his users. For a simple host yes its good, but for those people, like me, that like controlling access, its no were close to satisfactory but it works great for a quick image uploads


just make it it note, i'm here because its a good community and i do use the system for images I don't care about managing

I agree with Dwighton the whole "paid" thing driving away users.

I don't think it will drive away users in that they would just carry on with what they had. I agree that it might force some people to use other services for their 'management' if we don't offer it.

I might run a trial period with a select few people gaining 'limited' accounts. However, the paid features aren't set in stone yet, and neither is the idea of not having a 'member' area. I'm open to ideas, and hearing views on things that haven't quite made wImg what you want it to be.

Of course, we have to look at things with the idea of revenue and cost, and of course, offering a member system to everyone, would of course, increase our 'share' and user base. Also, it will increase our usage. We'd have to assess whether one outweighs the other, or whether we offer a restricted member area [with basic link management & deletion of images] for free, and then the other 'upgrades' to paid people.

I will open a discussion in the Suggestions board sometime today about 'Member' areas, and what people would like for free, and what would make them choose us over other providers. Our speed of upload would hopefully compensate for a lack of other items.. such as a lack of upload space.

For now though, I thank you & welcome all of your views/suggestions. Stay tuned for the discussion thread!
